More in BetMGM Kyle Busch (+650) has the best odds followed by the Hendrick Motorsports duo of Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson (both +700), Ross Chastain (+750) and Denny Hamlin (+800). Larson, the latest Chevrolet winner at MIS, racked up three consecutive cup wins from 2016-2017 while Hamlin and Bosch both won there in the Xfinity Series.
Nick Bromberg of Yahoo Sports suggests that you can find good mid-level value at Martin Truex Jr. (+1400) and Alex Bowman (+2200) and advises to stay away from Erik Jones (+2800).
Michigan international highway layout, what to expect
The two-mile D-shaped oval in southeastern Michigan has historically been one of the fastest tracks on the Cup Series circuit, with cars leading over 200 mph in the first turn. Up to Atlanta (cornering at 18 degrees, front stretch 12 degrees and back stretch five degrees) so the field is spread out a bit more than the above mentioned super speeds.
Since it was repaved in 2012, traffic has become more difficult and with drivers describing the new Cup as being very aerodynamically sensitive.
Ford has won each of the last seven races on the track, with veteran Kevin Harvick winning four of them.
Weather forecast for the weekend at FireKeepers Casino 400
It’s summer in Michigan, and that means heat, humidity, and thunderstorms. Despite putting it on the calendar, rain has only cut one of the last five races in August in Michigan.
