David Allegrito is Citizen of the Year ‣ Ocean City Sentinel in the room

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce that David Allegretto has been awarded the Chamber’s 2022 Citizen of the Year award.

His award and the Outstanding Business and Beauty Awards will be presented at the Chamber Gala Dinner on Wednesday, November 16, at the Hotel Flanders.

Allegretto is the local 3rd generation of Ocean City. His grandfather, Michael Allegrito, immigrated here from Italy. His parents were born in Ocean City and they raise their family here and stay for their whole lives. Allegretto attended Ocean City Public Schools, participated in football and baseball and graduated in 1985.

In 2014, he joined Fortress Financial. According to the Chamber, he and his business partners — Jeff Sherk, John Sherk and Jason Kiefer — help each of their clients manage their financial lives with care and compassion. “They give most of the credit for their success to their dedicated and professional employees who treat their clients like family. They also acknowledge that only God’s grace has allowed them to reach the level of success they have experienced.”

Allegretto’s love for the community was evident as he returned to the area after college to start his practice and raise his family. David and his wife Kendra have three children – Jordan, Lenny and Andrew. David was active in coaching his and other children in youth sports and participated in the reinforcement club for the field hockey team and swimming team while they were in high school.

Allegretto served as the founding president of the Ocean City Education Foundation where he helped raise funds to support the Ocean City School District and provide additional opportunities for all children in the area. The group was able to raise funds to build the observatory now at Curry High School’s playground.

Allegreto has served as treasurer, vice president, and president of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and is currently the immediate former president. He also currently serves on the mission team at his church, and also helps with the center of family life.
