BATHAM: In a horrific accident, a cyclist was poisoned to death by a stranger, who had offered him a lift, in Mudegonda Mandal in Khammam district on Monday. According to the police, the accident occurred when Sheikh Jamal Sahib, a 52-year-old farmer, was traveling on his motorbike from his home village of Bubaram to Gondrai in Andhra Pradesh.

When he reached Vallaby village, a stranger, wearing a monkey hat, stopped a camel and asked him for an elevator. After traveling some distance, the contestant administered a poisonous injection into Jamal’s thigh.

While the rider was complaining of some pain in his thigh, the stranger got off the bike and left, and said he was going with a friend who was coming in the same direction. Meanwhile, Jamal approached some farmers who were working in a nearby field to help but before they could respond, he fell to the ground. Then farmers took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police registered an unnatural death and launched an investigation. “We got a syringe back on site,” said Khammam Rural ACP G Basva Reddy. But it is not yet confirmed whether the same needle was used to inject poison into Jamal’s thigh.” The officer said they formed teams to track down the accused.
