Ashley Tisdale Bought a Chic Mid-Century Home – DIRT

Having just sold her quiet Hollywood Hills haven to influencer Madison Beer, it’s no surprise that Ashley Tisdale is back in the real estate world. This time around, the High School Musical star and longtime real estate enthusiast have pounced on the middle of the century, buying a ranch-style residence that was originally built in 1948 and is located elsewhere in the hills, although not far from her previous home.

The billionaire property seller was Johnson & Johnson heiress Jaime Johnson, who sold the place to Tisdale for about $6.2 million. While that’s a little less than I asked Johnson when I put the place up for sale over the summer, it’s also more than the $3.3 million I originally paid five years ago. That number is also a big number in this enclave adjacent to the Hollywood Hills, which is quieter and lower than more flashy areas like Bird Streets and the Sunset Strip.

But it’s not hard to see the gravity. Surrounded by enormous private hedges and guarded by a large driveway gate, the new Tisdale complex is essentially invisible from the street. During her stay, Johnson gave the home a sleek modern makeover that would likely cost a small fortune, and there’s also a separate guesthouse with an additional bedroom suite, plus Japanese gardens and a classic college-shaped pool.

Sliding glass doors throughout the house flood the one-story building mostly with natural light, while hardwood floors, original ceilings, and pillars add to the visual warmth. The living room offers a fireplace with a grooved perimeter of plasterboard; The elegant kitchen has high-quality appliances, quartz countertops and cabinets covered in a stunning shade of dark olive oil.

The main house is also fitted with four bedrooms, including a basic suite with bathroom decorated in gold Calacatta marble and a walk-in wardrobe with rare Douglas fir panels. Other spaces include a dining room with expensive lighting fixtures and a “hidden” basement with a professional projection room/movie theatre. Naturally, the house is also equipped with a sophisticated smart audio-visual security system.

Spread over just over a third of an acre, this relatively spacious estate is filled with plentiful magazine-worthy gardens designed by famous landscape designers Terremoto, and there are botanical gardens and fruit trees that surround the tiny guest house. A towering hedge wall partially encloses the pool and poolside patio, providing celebrity-style privacy for swimmers and sunbathers alike.

Tisdale, 32, is a New Jersey native and “real estate lover” who has bought and sold several Los Angeles homes over the years, mostly in the Hollywood Hills and Los Feliz neighborhoods. She first rose to fame on the Disney Channel sitcom “The Suite Life” in the 2000s, but is still best known for portraying Sharpay Evans in “High School Musical” and her subsequent music career.
