Taylor Swift Many things. 11-time Grammy Award winning artist, Breaking Glass Ceilings, Loyal Shadow Thrower. But above all else, the country singer-turned-pop star is undoubtedly, and unequivocally, a lover of all things.
Those who have followed Swift throughout her career know the full extent of her dedication, but things are different now than they were in 2013. Swift has grown her family. It’s not just Meredith anymore. Taylor Swift is now, in her own words, a cat lady. But are we talking about some cats here, or do they need to calm down?
How many cats does Taylor Swift own?
Like we said, it’s not just Meredith anymore, although Meredith is by far the most famous. Swift has added two more cats to her family, both of whom have very different personalities from each other and definitely different personalities to Meredith. Let’s see what we can find out about each of them.
For years it was only Meredith, and her fan base grew to know her as one of them. Named after Meredith Gray from instinct anatomy, Meredith the cat is as feisty and famous as the character Ellen Pompeo plays. Chosen as one of the most popular pets in 2013 ok magazineMeredith was popular online before it was cool to create a social media account for your pets. Like the popular 2012-era Grumpy Cat, Meredith doesn’t always show her emotions on her face, and she’s famous for her sassy side eyes, but she’s kind at heart and wishes Swift would never stop fondling her.
Meredith is of Scottish descent, which explains the fold in her ears and her owl-like appearance. Really, there’s only one way to sum up Meredith Gray the cat, and it’s with a line from SpongeBob SquarePants: “She was number one!”
In 2014, Swift added the latest addition to her family: Olivia. Like her sister Meredith, Olivia is of Scottish descent, although she’s less feisty and known as Dubbles at home (don’t ask us, ask Taylor). Oliva also got her name from a famous TV personality, lone detective Olivia Benson Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
While Meredith can’t get away from the camera fast enough, Oliva can’t get enough of her. Usually because she falls asleep or rolls over (she seems to have terrible balance). For seven strong years, only Olivia and Meredith, two sister cats, have been ruling the world. Then Benjamin came…
It couldn’t have been more adorable than love at first sight, and that was a lot more for Swift and Benjamin Button, who are named after — well, you know. Swift met Benjamin on the set of her music video for “ME! (feat. Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco) “She and Urie played husband and wife in the music video, the parents of their ‘daughters,’ Meredith and Olivia (the cats, not the characters). Then, while he was on the set, Benjamin, the kitten, came along. The little one who loved a tummy massage and couldn’t stop purring. After she pounced on him in her arms, Swift decided she couldn’t go home without him.The rest is a purring story.
As of this writing, Benjamin is the only brother of Meredith and Olivia, and according to TikTok, he’s also the king of everything the light touches. However, having embraced her reputation as a true blue cat lady, we know all too well that Benjamin Button won’t be the last. Wait, we just had an epiphany – she should name her next cat Macavity! This is us trying, guys…
