NHL Hot Seat: Anaheim Ducks. Hot Seat in the NHL: Anaheim Ducks

Welcome to The THN Hot Seat, the new NHL off-season series from the columns of THN.com. In this feature, we’ll identify one person in each NHL market facing significant pressure in the 2022-23 regular season. A person can be a player, a coach, or even a team owner.

Regardless, we’ll start the series alphabetically, looking at the Anaheim Ducks.

Dallas Aikins, Head Coach

Why: It’s not fair to pin Anaheim’s ranking struggles solely on Eakins, who has been the Dukes’ coach for three years now. The 55-year-old can’t teach the insult, the biggest problem the team has faced since he took over from then-interim coach and general manager Bob Murray. The Ducks have clearly been a franchise in transition for some time, and the retirement of longtime captain and cornerstone center Ryan Getslav last spring signaled the end of an era — as did the appointment of new GM Pat Verbeek.
