Cycology: See Me – Design Kit to reduce mortality
watch me
We hate reading about it, seeing it in the news. Another cyclist died after being hit by a vehicle.
The See Me group is for all cyclists who have been killed or injured by cars while enjoying our beautiful sport of cycling.
mycology
The origin of the design came from a Cycology customer who submitted a link to a story about a female cyclist who was injured and killed by a motorist in 2018. This tragic story struck deep with Cycology designer Sarina Thomshin. Sarina spent the next day holding the brush in her hand, taking all her emotions down on paper. The final painting was photographed and posted on Facebook.
The painting See Me was an emotional painting. I never meant to wear it over clothes but we have requests on social media indicating that’, explain picture. This design has now become one of our most popular designs. I love wearing it myself, as I know motorists see the eye and have an embellished look on the back. Let me ride my bike and live until I get home. The See Me design appears in a full range of clothing as well as accessories, including men’s shirts.
mycology
Cycology designs are known for being bright and loud. Reflective elements have also been added to help the driver see you at night. Nothing is more intimidating to me than seeing a cyclist in a complete black suit, riding in the dark, on a bitumen road. Cyclists blend in and wait for an accident, Sarina explains. 99% of Cycology clothing is bright, bold, colorful and high-profile. Motorists need to see you on the road from miles away, and Cycology makes that happen.

Haftner’s Buckleigh Aero Cycling Socks – $19.99

In terms of design, fit, and feel, the Haftners Buckler Air Cycling Socks (a size medium for my 9-foot American) are what you’d expect. The toe and heel (the two primary wear points) are slightly reinforced but not bulky. The bottom is slightly padded for added comfort. And the upper over the instep provides some ventilation/wicking. The pressure is strong enough to hold without being too tight. And the strap is doubled at the top to help make sure the socks stay up.

Who counts the grams?
But what makes the Haftners Buckler Aerobic Cycling Socks stand out is the ribbing on the leg section. By now, you may have noticed that many of the pro peloton riders wear shirts with ribbed sleeves. The ribbing is supposed to be more aerodynamically efficient. Well, if they are good enough for the sleeves, why not use socks? #aero Of course, without access to the wind tunnel data, I can’t vouch for how much of a difference the ribbing makes.

ribs = watts
What I can confirm is that the Hafteners Buckler Aero cycling socks were on par with my favorite socks from a certain other company which are often considered the gold standard when it comes to cycling socks. They were very comfortable on my feet and cycling shoes. No complaints whatsoever after my first long-distance hike in typical hot and humid Babylon in Potomac weather. As the saying goes: My dogs weren’t barking.

Do these make my feet look faster?
If you decide to treat your feet to a pair of Haftners Bouclair Air Socks, know that you’ll also be supporting a veteran family-owned business and a downtime. So, it’s a bit like shopping your LBS.

Regardless of differences of opinion about the acceptable sock height, it is indisputable that classic white is stylish

Moots introduces the ‘Apex’ finishing touch
moots
APEX is the innermost point of your riding line through the bend arc. It’s the point that separates your corner entrance from the corner exit, and it’s essential to get to this mark if you’re going to ride the fastest line through the corner. When cornering is done correctly, the fastest speed will be achieved.
moots
moots
This beautiful shimmer oxidizing treatment is performed with a cool blue and gold fade to achieve the look and feel of speed. The seat tube bears the number 81 to denote the year Moots was founded, and the subtle touch of the chainring adds to APEX’s free-speed theory.
